M. M. Turner returns to Hooker Vision after 12 long years with a series of works for solo electric guitar and Pure Data. "Tree in Sun and Rain" consists of four themes which are revisited in increasingly abstract variations, gradually smearing themselves into gauzier echoes of their former selves. Running through a system of time lag accumulators and real-time granular effects, the guitar shimmers, jitters, and glides across the album. Although the songs on "Tree in Sun and Rain" were recorded in one take, with no overdubs, make no mistake: this is not mere jamming, these pieces have been masterfully crafted and composed.
