Liminal Haze is the duo of Craig Stewart Johnson (Rovellasca, Invisible City Records) and Ross Scott-Buccleuch (Diurnal Burdens, Steep Gloss). The seventh in an ongoing series, 'Volume 7' further continues the group's efforts of unearthing haunting, spectral tape music. Opening "Volume 7", 'XXV' patiently extracts a hidden melody from waves of static before blurring and fading into the relative lightness of 'XXVI'. 'XXVII' closes the A side as a mournful lament. Where the A side felt open, airy, the B side feels subterranean, with the muffled industrial scraping of 'XXVIII'. 'XXIX' continues similarly, before the tolling of far-off church bells signals a transition into a droning echo, suffocating on a malevolent electric hum. The final track, 'XXX', loops back into itself as a familiar melody disappears into crackles and static.

Even being a cassette release no one could be happier than me when I saw this piece become available Whenever Rachel puts out a new release they SELL OUT immediately. To have been lucky enough to collect all twelve of the MOON releases on CDr you would have to have been in the know about each release.
